1792 Bottled in Bond

Some bottled-in-bond bourbons come at you like they have a point to prove. This one does not.

Officially, 1792 Bottled in Bond is a limited-edition 100-proof release.  The 1792 brand itself leans into spice, charred oak, mint, caramel apple, coffee, and black pepper. Other published reviews often describe Bottled in Bond as spicier and oakier than the 1792 Sweet Wheat which tends to come across sweeter, lighter, and thinner on the palate.

1792 Bottled in Bond has a color is light that is attractive in the glass. The aroma is mild, pleasant, and inviting. The palate lands exactly where an everyday bourbon ought to land—sweet and calm. The finish is smooth and comfortable.

What stood out most to us is how straightforwardly enjoyable it is.

This drinks like a sweet wheated bourbon, even though it is not trying to overwhelm you with fruit, candy, or anything overly flashy. There are no big distracting notes jumping out of the glass. No heavy-handed fruit bomb. No sharp turn into something odd. Just a pleasant bourbon that does what a pleasant bourbon is supposed to do: pour clean, taste good, and make you want another sip.

At 100 proof, it drinks a little lower than the number on the label suggests, but it still has enough structure to satisfy most bourbon drinkers. That balance works in its favor. It is approachable without feeling watered down, and it carries itself with enough backbone to avoid becoming forgettable. This bottle wins by being steady, drinkable, and easy to like.  And here is the part that may surprise some 1792 fans:

We think this is better than 1792 Sweet Wheat.

Sweet Wheat has its place, but this bottle feels more complete as a bourbon. More grounded. More useful. More likely to get poured again on an ordinary night when you want bourbon, not a conversation piece. In a lineup that already has some very respectable bottles, 1792 Bottled in Bond earns its place as one of the more dependable pours. That matters. Because not every bourbon needs to be rare, loud, or dramatic to be worth keeping around. Sometimes the real value is a bottle that consistently drinks well, fits a wide range of palates, and feels like a natural grab when the day is done.

This is that kind of bottle.

Barrel Proof Score: 3.75 / 5

Final Call: This is a bottle that should be have a permanent spot on your shelf.

A solid addition to the 1792 lineup—and a very good reminder that “pleasant” is not faint praise when the pour is this easy to enjoy.
